Third round of coronavirus recovery grants available to Telford and Wrekin businesses

Telford & Wrekin Council prepares to empower local businesses with a new round of coronavirus recovery grants worth up to £ 10,000.

There will be three different strands of funding targeting specific business sectors across the district, as well as access to business advice support.

Details of the funds available will be announced later in the day, with applications opening a week later. The entire application process is completed online and a dedicated website www.telfordgrowthfund.co.uk has all the information you need, including application guides and FAQs.

David Wright, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Business, Housing, Transportation and Infrastructure said:

“This is fantastic news for local businesses. Our goal on the council is to use the latest round of Coronavirus Additional Restrictions Grant funding to support SMB businesses – employing fewer than 250 people – and social enterprises that we recognize are useful for helping communities and Our recovery from the effects of Covid-19 are important.

“This will not only help strengthen our Telford and Wrekin economies, it will also create opportunities for growth and new jobs and improve the lives of all of our residents.

“We want to support as many as possible with this financing round, but at the same time it is clear that demand will exceed supply. Therefore, applications are evaluated according to the principle of “first come, first served”. “

New grants for growth and recovery range from £ 2,000 to £ 10,000, including the Telford Growth Fund, Exceptional Fund and Social Enterprise Development Fund, as well as individual technical support.

The special fund will provide further financial support to companies active in the leisure, retail and hospitality sectors. Applicants must provide evidence that they have had or continue to experience a serious negative impact due to the ongoing COVID restrictions or the ongoing impact of the pandemic on trade.

In addition to grant funding options, the Telford & Wrekin Council has an expanded team of dedicated personal business advisors who can provide assistance

Companies should read the overview of each fund, eligibility criteria and guidelines, and determine if they are eligible for a qualifying project. The funds will open for applications on Tuesday 21 September 2021 and the council intends to inform applicants of the results within 20 working days.

Cllr Wright added, “There are a number of business advisors on our panel who can assist all sectors in navigating the pandemic recovery and developing plans for growth or diversification with either specialist or general business assistance. Assistance can take the form of business planning, diversification mapping, support with the introduction of new product lines and services or independent financial evaluations up to and including the development of new websites. “
