The South West business people going up in the world

Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic, companies continue to grow and jobs are being created. Here is a summary of some recent appointments and promotions with companies in the Southwest.

PKF Francis Clark

Chloe Mills and Liam Dushynsky, partners at PKF Francis Clark

PKF Francis Clark celebrates the promotion of two new partners and five new directors. Chloe Mills and Liam Dushynsky become partners in the company, while Chris Rodgers, Sarah Brown, Adam Waddle, Kieran Hancock and Mark Bishop are promoted to directors. The newly promoted partners and directors are based in Exeter, Poole, Torquay and Plymouth.

Ms. Mills joined the company in 2010 as Director of Auditing and is responsible for overseeing auditing and accounting services in the Poole office.

Exeter-based Dushynsky joined PKF Francis Clark as a trainee in 2005 and is now a key member of the company’s VAT and customs team.

British lithium

Peter Long, British Lithium’s non-executive director

A businessman whose long and distinguished career included regular meetings with national and international heads of state has joined British Lithium as a non-executive director.

Peter Long founded Newquay-based, family-run Legacy Properties in 2008 and is an active member of the Cornish business community. He is also a staunch advocate of helping companies with clear growth potential.

As Managing Director of TUI Travel PLC, Mr. Long was instrumental in founding the TUI Group – the world’s largest integrated leisure tourism company with 64,000 employees and 30 million customers.

Previous roles as non-executive chairman and non-executive director have included Rentokil Initial, RAC, Royal Mail and Countrywide. He has also been president of the Family Holiday Association charity since 2013.

British Lithium is the first in the world to promote the commercial extraction of lithium from the mica in granite and the first in the UK to start drilling in Cornwall.

Wasdell

Christopher Baylis, Wasdell’s Group Finance Director

Swindon-based healthcare company Wasdell has strengthened teams on key dates to support and sustain growth and development.

Christopher Baylis, the group’s chief financial officer, joins Wasdell after previously serving as a consultant to the company. He has been running his own auditing practice for 20 years, but with a keen interest in the healthcare sector and the experience of serving on the boards of many other companies.

Precious Emovon has been appointed Quality Manager at Wasdell

Precious Emovon has been appointed quality manager and Natalia Teixeira has joined as a validation officer. Mr. Emovon brings years of pharmaceutical advice from across the UK and Europe including some of the biggest names in the industry.

Chemist Teixeira, who holds a Masters in Production Management, joined Wasdell in November 2020 as a production employee and was quickly shown through Wasdell to leverage the experience and skills brought back from her previous roles as a Quality Technician at Heineken Brewery and Quality Assurance Analyst at Citrosuco, one of the world’s largest exporters of orange juice.

Access2Funding

Gary Standen, Business Development Executive at Access2Funding

Access2Funding has welcomed two new starters to its Bristol office after a period of exponential growth.

One of the UK’s fastest growing R&D tax specialists increased its team more than five times over the past year across the country, including recent additions to the Bristol quota.

Gary Standen joins as Business Development Executive, bringing over 14 years of wealth finance industry experience from Hitachi Capital and Grenke Leasing, where he worked with dealers, manufacturers and direct end-user customers.

Tracey Kovacs from Access2Funding

Tracey Kovacs has been with Lloyds Bank for 25 years. She will get stuck building the business and sharing her expertise with clients in the Southwest.

To date, Access2Funding has secured nearly £ 30 million in R&D tax credits for businesses.

Vickery Holman

Rebecca Cook has been promoted to associate with real estate advisor Vickery Holman in the Southwest

Rebecca Cook has been promoted to associate with leading real estate advisor Vickery Holman, who heads the Cornwall general practitioner survey team and the regional corporate rate advisory team.

Ms. Cook joined as a surveyor in October 2018 and will continue to work in the Truro office and lead the general practitioner team. She provides ratings for both secured and unsecured lending purposes in Cornwall and the regional business rates team.

Cornwall’s Trewithen Dairy has appointed Emma Lawes as Marketing Director

Trewithen Dairy, the family-run manufacturer of Cornish dairy products, has appointed Emma Lawes to its management team as Head of Marketing.

Ms. Lawes, with a background in marketing and product management, will be responsible for developing and growing the brand. In particular, she will oversee the brand’s positioning for the next phase of growth as it expects to expand nationally and guide how the company brings innovative new products to market.

Prior to joining the Lostwithiel-based company, Mr. Lawes held key positions with national brands. In particular, she was the director of offering development at Virgin Media, where she gained extensive experience designing and implementing marketing strategies and bringing successful consumer goods and services to market.

Ms. Lawes is also a qualified personal trainer and is passionate about health, fitness, food, origins and the environment.
