Tech consultancy MTX picks Adelaide as first step in APAC enlargement

Technical consultancy MTX chooses Adelaide as the first step in APAC expansion

Adelaide will welcome the creation of another 500 high-paying jobs, with technology consultancy MTX Group choosing the city as their first hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

US-based technology consulting and services company MTX Group has selected Australia as its Asia-Pacific launch pad and has set up its first down-under delivery center in Adelaide. The expansion will create 2,500 Australian jobs, of which 500 will be in South Australia, and follows immediately after Accenture and PwC announce new centers in Adelaide which will create 2000 and 300 jobs respectively over the coming years.

“We are determined to make a positive impact in the local communities and Adelaide became the obvious first delivery center in Australia because of the culture and ambitious plan of the regional government with a clear ten-year vision for innovation and a thriving economy,” said MTX CEO The Nobel , who together with Nipa Nobel founded the Texas-based company in its current form in 2018. Today over 680 employees are listed on LinkedIn.

With an ambition to become a billion dollar company by 2025, MTX covers a range of technology and consulting services, including Salesforce and Google Cloud implementations, as well as appropriate AI and machine learning platforms. The company won a number of major Covid response deals in the United States over the past year, including the dropping out of companies such as Accenture and IBM on a contract tracking management tender in Texas valued at $ 295 million.

MTX’s Australian practice is led by Co-Founder and CEO Ben Papps, a former management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and more recently executive manager of the NBN. Papps cited the city’s references in artificial intelligence and data analytics as one of the company’s attractions in Adelaide. The Australian Machine Learning Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Living Lab were both established in South Australia in recent years.

“AIML is a world-class research facility and the MIT Living Lab, one of only three laboratories outside the US, provides global collaboration between MIT, government and business in Adelaide,” said Papps. “MTX is excited to partner with these and other research initiatives that enable secure data analysis to identify growth opportunities and improve government decision-making and socio-economic outcomes.”

Speaking alongside Treasury Secretary Simon Birmingham, State Premier Stephen Marshall said: “South Australia offers a unique platform through research, capabilities and collaborations that enable development opportunities in the fields of artificial intelligence, space technology, renewable energies and health.”

“MTX will be able to connect academic consortia and corporations in a mutual partnership that offers outstanding apprenticeship internships and high-paying jobs.”

According to the company, MTX is clear evidence of its commitment to the state. Following its launch, MTX announced a five-year sponsorship deal for naming rights for the Stadium Club in Adelaide Oval Showdown in Port Adelaide over the weekend. “MTX looks forward to engaging with local companies and we really enjoyed Adelaide Oval,” said Papps.
