State officials recognize businesses for export efforts

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Governor Jim Justice and civil servants this week recognized the business that has grown from exporting goods and services to a new country in 2020.

On Wednesday, 27 companies received the Governor’s award for the International Market Entry Award in a virtual ceremony, at which seven companies received the award for the first time.

“West Virginia has a very diverse economy, with several thriving industries and a number of companies that have taken the next steps to export outside of the United States,” said Mitch Carmichael, Secretary of State for Economic Development. “Every time a West Virginia company expands into a new market, it should be celebrated. It’s an incredible achievement that adds so much to the state’s economy. “

The companies exported goods and services to customers in 50 different countries:

– Growth media productions in Shepherdstown.
– Belle chemical in Belle.
– Elite Etching LLC in Cross Lanes.

– Morgan Rhea in South Charleston.
– Industrial Bolting Technologies Inc. in Charleston.
– The Iron Beaver in Montgomery.

The state’s export market was valued at $ 4.5 billion in 2020.
