The company on the south coast is merging with the national real estate consultancy

Dorset-based commercial real estate consultancy Cowling & West has partnered with Vail Williams.

Cowling & West, based in Bournemouth, is a three-partner chartered surveyor team specializing in property appraisal, office and industrial acquisitions and sales.

Founded 35 years ago, the company has a customer base in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) regions, whose clients include Ilchester Estates, McCarthy & Stone, Hoburne, Aster Group and Glenbeigh Developments.

Matthew Samuel-Camps, Managing Partner at Vail Williams said, “The merger with Cowling & West provides a natural opportunity to expand our geographic reach to the west of our South Coast region, which will improve our ability to serve both existing and new customers there . “

Vail Williams already serves clients in the BCP area from its existing offices in Portsmouth and Southampton, commercializing several buildings and developments including the Grange Road Business Park in Christchurch on behalf of BAE Systems, Waverley House in Bournemouth and County Gates House in Poole.

The company’s expansion into Bournemouth comes one year after the company acquired UK management consultancy Trilogie CRE and three years after its merger with Hughes Ellard.

With this latest contract, three seasoned partners will join the team, including founding partners David Cowling and Simon West, partner Simon Tubbs and three support staff.

David Cowling said, “After 35 years of developing Cowling & West, we are excited to begin the next stage in our career with Vail Williams – a company that is the right solution for both us and our customers.”

“We are excited to offer our customers the added value of operating under Vail Williams, including a much wider range of real estate services that we can draw from, from corporate rate advice to building advice to planning expertise.”

The newly merged company will continue to be based in the current offices of Cowling & West for a short time and will keep an eye on rapid expansion over the next three years.

The office is led by Vail Williams partner Russell Miller. Gary Jeffries will continue in his role as regional managing partner of the company’s newly expanded South Coast region.
