Snoop Dogg joins Def Jam as a strategic advisor and looks forward to benefiting her artists from his “wisdom and guidance”.

The ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ hitmaker will join the record label in a newly created role as Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant, where he will work for the entire executive team and artist list, with an “immediate focus” on A&R and creative Development.

Snoop is very excited about the chance to work with the label that he called the “holy grail of hip-hop”.

In a video announcement, he said, “Now you may be wondering why I wanted to work for Def Jam Records so late in my career.

“Well, let me tell you, as a young rapper, Def Jam was the holy grail of hip-hop.”

After pondering the label’s legacy of great music as clips played by artists such as Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys and Ludcaris, Snoop has vowed to give his current list the benefits of his “wisdom and leadership.”

He added, “When I got the opportunity, my main focus at Def Jam was helping the artists and giving them love and wisdom, guidance and understanding, teaching them some tricks I learned in the game – about their portfolios to diversify superstars. “

The label, which includes artists like Kanye West, Nas, Justin Bieber and Big Sean, is thrilled to have Snoop on board and to work with them from Los Angeles.
