With over 200 employees across the UK and Scotland, Galbraith wanted to improve access for employees working from home across the country by using thinkWhere’s SaWS data portal and thinkWhere’s software as a service (thinkMhere) solution, groundMapper to help employees achieve key business data more easily.

GroundMapper provides simplified access to maps and a number of Geographic Information System tools for viewing, exporting and analyzing location data. Over 300 regularly updated data sets are available from organizations such as the Ordnance Survey, the Environment Agency and the Forest Agency.

While the pandemic has forced companies to adapt quickly to new technologies and ways of working, Galbraith sought to overcome such barriers by providing easier access to external and internal data sets to enable modernized, more dynamic relationships with customers and stakeholders.

“The way in which good data is collected, followed by some element of analysis or interpretation and the end of a deliverable solution, is changing,” commented Daniel Campanile, Associate GIS Manager at Galbraith.

“Photocopied paper cards with colored scribbles, vague sketches in notebooks, and details from unreliable memories or outdated sources are just not good enough. When you balance the challenges of remote working, vacation workers, and changing business needs, you have concrete drivers of change.

“However, it is not easy to find a compromise between introducing new technologies and taking care of existing processes. If you get it wrong, you run the risk of being left behind or overwhelming limited resources. If you get it right, you have the potential to make a significant impact, ”he continued.

“By working with thinkWhere to implement groundMapper, we were able to do everything right! We have redeveloped our WebGIS and now have a modern, future-proof online platform that can be used by all employees with Internet access to call up relevant geographic information. “
