Ed Potts joined the digital agency working with leading brands from their base in Wolverhampton Science Park to raise their profile as the business grows in 2021 and beyond.

Ed was previously Marketing and Communications Officer at Tettenhall College, Wolverhampton, and in his new role at Stone’s Throw, Ed will be responsible for building the agency’s reputation while building on his experience campaigning for the leading independent school.

In keeping with the Stone’s Throw ethos, his new job title will be a digital marketing specialist that captures the company’s independent spirit of doing things differently. With a degree in digital marketing from Birmingham City University, Ed served in his previous position for more than three years.

In his new role, Ed will be responsible for delivering marketing campaigns to reach executives and directors who want to deliver creative and video content that will delight audiences. With the company already on the city council’s Economic Growth Committee and Creative Scale Up, a program run by the West Midlands Combined Authority, Ed will continue to build on these advances to further strengthen his partnerships.

Stone’s Throw was founded in 2011 and has eight employees. The company works with clients such as Redrow, Wolves, JLR, the University of Wolverhampton and accommodation provider Student Roost.

Ed Potts said, “I am very excited to be joining Stone’s Throw as they continue to grow and help clients successfully achieve their business goals. With strong connections in the area, I knew the positive impact the team has had in Wolverhampton and the West Midlands and I look forward to helping them build on their previous successes. “

Co-founder and director Matt Weston welcomed Ed to the business. He said, “We’re thrilled to have Ed join us as we evolve as a company that helps customers share their messages in an engaging and creative way. Having a member of the team who really understands the region and is also passionate about improving it makes Ed a great addition. We are sure that if we grow in the future it will be a success.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in many companies switching to digital marketing and event solutions. As a leading provider, Stone’s Throw Media is able to offer expertise in these difficult times with Ed’s additional experience on board. ”

Mike Chinn, Co-Founder and Director, added, “We are proud to be part of the Wolverhampton business community. It was therefore important that we find someone with roots in the region who recognizes the opportunities around us. “

During the Covid-19 lockdown, Stone’s Throw revolved around delivering digital events amid social distancing restrictions, including the online opening ceremony for Wolverhampton University’s state-of-the-art campus at the renovated Springfield Brewery last October, as well as an interactive virtual version of the university’s annual employee awards .

Stone’s Throw ranks in the top five percent for video production and animation services in the West Midlands on the state’s Standard Industry Classification for Economic Activities (SIC). Of the 710 companies registered under the 59 SIC code, Stone’s Throw is one in 35 with five or more employees. They were also the micro business of the year at the Express & Star Business Awards 2018.
