LogoArchive Extra Issue - past and present of BankerWessel. Published by BP & O. A project by Richard Baird.

LogoArchive's smaller format – a mid-century symbolic zine that conveys the independent spirit of niche publishing – has created a space for experimentation and collaboration with those who have a similar interest in symbols and corporate identity programs Have past. BankerWessel is such a studio. Her brand identity work brings the spirit of the formal language of the middle of the century into the present and then transfers it into the future. This is the basis for the third special edition of LogoArchive. Past & Present, the eighth release in the series and the first for 2020.

In the dialogue between booklet and insert (symbols past and present), two unique cover variations with symbols from the years 1976 and 2010 and the chronological sequence of BankerWessel's own design process, this edition should be a small bookmark and stimulate thought about the iterative and cyclical character of graphic design.

Visit the LogoArchive Shop if you want to buy a specific cover or both covers and save at P&P.

In the spirit of collaboration, this edition maintains the convention and in other cases breaks the convention by combining the archive format of the zine with the illustration, lettering, and process. The opening spread specifies this and replaces the familiar introductory text with an original illustration by BankerWessel. The explicit becomes the implicit. Based on the past and present, this tries to express the historical sensitivity that is necessary to understand the present and better shape the future, but also the multisensory brand experiences of the present. It guides the reader to the next pages of the brochure in a clear manner and is supplemented by a text

The archive section of this issue and the establishment of the LogoArchive project, which started on Instagram in 2015, will remain. As in the previous editions, this one has its own subtext, which deals with the cyclicality of the design. This is done in the archive section by compiling symbols that were created by design studios for design studios (events and independent designers) in relation to the rotation properties of the two cover symbols, the rotation of an ambigram, and the product's own production of design. the sale of design to designers.

By crossing the archive part of the LogoArchive document with symbols of the present, the Zine wants to bring the continuity (or ongoing history) of corporate symbol design to life. BankerWessel was specially commissioned for this edition because they carry the spirit of the design language of the middle of the century into the future. This idea of a continued story is summarized in the middle with an ambigram of paths that makes the most of the physical aspect of a project that once started online, and in the presentation of BankerWessel's iterative process in designing its symbols for Fotografiska and Hasselbald Foundation .at the center.
