Peter Gassmann new head of strategy consulting Strategy &

The global strategy consulting firm Strategy & has once again chosen a German as the world market leader and appointed Peter Gassmann to succeed Joachim Rotering.

54-year-old Peter Gassmann has been with Strategy & for fifteen years. As a physicist, he came to strategy consulting from an international investment bank in 2000 and rose to principal during his first job at the consulting firm. In 2003 he switched to the banking sector at Commerzbank, where he worked for six years, most recently as Global Head Market & Operational Risk.

When he returned to Strategy & (then Booz & Company) in 2010, he was made a partner in the Financial Services division. Over the past ten years, he has focused on advising global financial institutions and central banks on strategy and transformation projects and has assumed increasing responsibility internally.

Most recently, Gassmann was Managing Director Strategy & Europe and, in a dual role, Global ESG Leader at PwC. He will keep both positions together with around 3,200 colleagues from Strategy & worldwide.

“I am pleased that the Global Leadership Team has placed its trust in me,” said Gassmann. The former head of the firm, Joachim Rotering from Düsseldorf, headed Strategy & for almost four years. Similar to Gassmann, he previously headed the European business and has been with the company since the Booz & Company era.

The appointment comes a week after Strategy & closed its first deal since its inception seven years ago. “We are happy to have 67rockwell Consulting on board and look forward to many successful joint projects in the insurance industry,” said Gassmann.
