It’s easy to get carried away with the texturing, but sometimes just a subtle addition of grit is all it takes to give a clean digital design a tactile look. This collection of subtle grain brushes and patterns features 6 grainy textures ranging from “so sparse you can barely see” to “that’s probably too much”. They are great for adding visual interest to backgrounds or adding letterpress-style ink stamp effects to your artwork. The textures are supplied as Photoshop brushes and sample files. So they’re versatile tools that can be placed manually or automatically fill in an area within layer styles and adjustment layers.
These versatile textures can be used in so many different ways. The brushes can be applied in any color so you can quickly and easily dab a texture onto your design or within a layer mask. Alternatively, you can cover an infinite area with a seamless pattern fill using either the Fill tool or the Pattern Fill adjustment layer. One of my favorite techniques is applying a subtle grain pattern using a pattern overlay layer style. You can easily adjust the scale and combine it with the color overlay using either the Dark Color or Lighter Color Blending Modes to change the color of the grain texture. Take a stroke to achieve the popular ink stamp look for logos or lettering.
