Preston-based Conlon Construction was hired by Blackpool Council to transform the former Colton House into a modern, high-quality, purpose-built recreation center for young adults with complex needs. The community property on Ambleside Road in Mereside in Blackpool previously operated as three apartments and offered assisted living to people with learning disabilities. It is to be developed into a new two-story modern building with six bedrooms, state-of-the-art assisted technology, a dining room / kitchen, a lounge, a service office, a laundry, a sensory and garden room and a staff area.

The facility is specifically designed for people with learning disabilities or autism to reduce the need for hospital support and to reintegrate people from hospitals back into their families and communities more quickly.

Steve Waggott, CEO of Blackburn Rovers, said: “The past 18 months have been tough for the club. However, we were determined to move forward on all fronts to improve our fan experience. Our digital offering has never been more important and we are excited to be working with Urban Zoo and Stream AMG to build and improve our online platforms to offer fans a better experience and a closer connection to the club. “

Rob Moore, Urban Zoo’s Chief Commercial Officer, said, “Supporting Rovers at this crucial time was a priority for us, especially given the physical distance fans had to keep from the stadium. The club’s new website has a significantly improved look and feel and is designed to provide fans with a more enjoyable and accessible experience as they make plans to return to live games before the start of next season. “

The club’s charitable arm, the Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, is also gaining traction as its award-winning work is featured in a dedicated area in the community where supporters can learn about their many programs and book facilities. As part of the digital revision, the club has teamed up with the video streaming platform expert Stream AMG. RoversTV – replaces iFollow Rovers – offers fans improved behind-the-scenes videos, exclusive interviews and match streaming alongside a host of new content.
