The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce’s international trading arm, MY Export Hub, has set up a free Brexit Support Hub, a one-stop shop where businesses can access advice, resources and support, as well as expert advisors, to help them tackle the challenges and take advantage of the possibilities of importing and exporting after Great Britain leaves the European Union.

The chamber has reported a number of issues businesses in the area are facing due to the new trade regulations, including new documentation requirements, border controls and labeling requirements.

To help companies in the Mid Yorkshire region overcome these hurdles, MY Export Hub’s Brexit Support Hub covers the costs of external, expert advice.

Martin Hathaway, General Manager of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We have seen firsthand the impact of Brexit on businesses in our region and quickly realized the need for a dedicated service to support local importers and exporters.

“Coronavirus is already a very challenging climate for many companies, but for many the changing requirements resulting from the UK’s exit from the EU are putting a strain on the shoulders of executives alike.

“Our MY Export Hub has been providing support and guidance to its members for over 30 years and we are pleased to be able to expand its offering in such an important period.

“Our dedicated team is available to answer your questions and, if necessary, to ask questions about external advice. This is part of our commitment to support you and your business. This free service is only available for a limited time until March 31, 2021. We therefore recommend that all companies access this support when they need it. “

MY Export Hub is the Mid Yorkshire Chamber’s one-stop shop for exporters, from incumbents to first-time companies considering international trade. MY Export Hub is supported by funds from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Department of Corporate, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Companies can not only fall back on the specialist knowledge of international consultants from trading centers, but also receive support with export documentation, market information and contacts, language and translation services and currency exchange.

In cooperation with partners and chamber members, MY Export Hub also offers access to international trade training courses through a series of events and seminars.

The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce is currently offering free membership to Wakefield Council and Kirklees Council businesses and up to 75% off chamber membership for Calderdale businesses. This offer is supported by a contribution to memberships of the LEP. Over 400 companies can join the Mid Yorkshire Chamber and benefit from the advisory, support, financial and employee benefits offered by the Chamber.
