Mark Alcock and Mark Matthew join Equib Risk Advisory Service

Birmingham-based risk management consultancy Equib has added two new senior managers to its team: Mark Alcock and Mark Matthew.

Mark Alcock brings over 40 years of experience as a risk management specialist to large capital projects and operating companies in the mining, rail, defense, energy and nuclear industries. “I have been fortunate to have known and worked with Equib for a number of years and have managed some of his staff directly. Project risk management practitioners are top flight, ”he said.

His career highlights include senior risk roles for the Astute class submarine, Metronet SSL, Crossrail Western Tunnel and HS2 Phase 1. He specializes in designing and implementing integrated project risk systems, assumption management and improving risk capacity through education and training.

Mark Matthew brings nearly two decades of experience as a risk management specialist to large infrastructure projects and programs in the defense, aerospace, energy and nuclear industries. “I have been fortunate to work with some of the company’s consultants on previous projects and I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the company,” he said.

His career highlights include helping BAE Systems manage and analyze risk in the early development of the £ 30 billion Dreadnought submarine program. One of his main strengths is the creation of quantitative risk and uncertainty models to support decision-making.

Both new joiners were now busy with a major infrastructure program supporting risk management in the delivery of HS2 Phase 1 (a joint venture between Balfour Beatty and VINCI).

Equib specializes in risk advice and management for projects in heavy building construction and infrastructure. Commenting on the additions, Bill Zuurbier, General Manager at Equib, said, “We have some of the best risk management minds in the business here at Equib and it’s great to have both Marks on board.”
