Mace has appointed two new senior roles – Lizz Robinson and Mark Anders – who joined the expanding transportation team after a major win for Highways England

Mace has brought Lizz Robinson and Mark Anders on board to expand his position in the transportation sector and support the business following his appointment to Highways England’s Commercial and Project Management (CPMS) framework.

The newly appointed Directors will be responsible for building an experienced team in support of the CPMS framework, which has been developed to give Highways England the expertise it needs to implement the government’s £ 27.4 billion road investment strategy.

Over the next five years, the framework will bring about long-term improvements to England’s highways and major roads. It will include developing 52 new road concepts and working on 12 new major motorway projects to improve and provide capacity to the network when needed.

Within that £ 420 million value, Mace is supplying lots for both commercial and project management services.

Development of Mace’s transport strategy

Robinson will play a key role in developing and executing his Mace transportation strategy, acting as director and client manager for the CPMS framework while overseeing Lot 2, which will provide project management services including planning, scheduling and risk management.

Anders has been providing commercial services to the infrastructure sector for over 20 years and will lead this part of the CPMS framework as Director for Lot 1.

Anders has extensive road experience, having previously directed the commercial management of programs and major projects at Highways England.

As a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and NEC contract trainer, he brings a range of expertise to Mace, and as the newly appointed Head of Commercial Practice, he will be responsible for developing the companies’ commercial offerings, working closely with the Consult Cost- and commercial management team.

In line with Mace’s ambitious 2026 strategy, Robinson and Anders will help develop the company’s plans for the transportation business by leveraging their broad industry knowledge to leverage and build new relationships across the industry and within the CPMS supply chain.

Sean Gray, Mace’s director of transportation, said, “These two appointments represent a real investment by Mace in the transportation sector, a key area in growing the consulting business.

“I am excited to have both Lizz and Mark on the team, who both have the experience and practical skills needed to move the business forward and meet the ambitious Highways England CPMS framework that sets us apart makes it possible to provide a strategic road network that hits and creates added value for road users, communities and the environment in which we live. “
