A Shropshire woman’s love of sailing led her to start a business selling sustainable products.

Liz Senior, who lives near Shifnal, has won numerous national sailing trophies and is passionate about the ocean.

She has now started a new company, LS Branding, which sells eco-friendly promotional items, including an award-winning water bottle that helps protect the environment.

“Sailing is a big part of my life and I am very concerned about the amount of plastic polluting the ocean,” said Liz.

“When I decided to start my new company selling sustainable branded products, the first thing we chose was the ‘Ocean Bottle’, which is fully recyclable. What we really love is that a significant portion of the proceeds from each sale fund the collection of ocean-bound plastic, which equates to 1,000 bottles for just one ocean bottle sold.

“This got me thinking about the environmental impact of the entire advertising market and I wanted to make sure that all of our products have a low carbon footprint and do not contribute to the ‘plastic problem’. Since then, we’ve worked with carefully selected suppliers to create a catalog of products that is part of the solution, not the problem, while also helping brands really stand out. “

LS Branding was started with the help of a Step Up for Business program from Bridgnorth management consultancy Good2Great.

The initiative that helps existing businesses grow and start-ups includes eight master classes as well as individual coaching, structured support and additional help where and whenever it is needed.

“Liz has followed the program enthusiastically and closely and it has really paid off – we look forward to seeing her business fly,” said Sally Themans of Good2Great.

The Step Up Business program is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and administered by Telford & Wrekin Council on behalf of partner Shropshire Council.

Liz added, “With the support of Good2Great, we have followed our values and company ethos of delivering sustainable items and merchandise.”
