LEGO Group pronounces its newest local weather motion initiative

The LEGO Group announces its latest climate protection initiative

The LEGO Group reaffirms its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and helping consumers make more sustainable choices

The LEGO Group has joined the European Commission’s new “Green Consumption Pledge” pilot initiative – one of the first companies to join this climate protection initiative. By joining the Pledge, the Group reaffirms its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and helping consumers make more sustainable choices.

A virtual event was held on January 25, 2021 in Brussels, Belgium, announcing the promise of green consumption and participation by L’Oréal, Colruyt Group, Decathlon and Renewd, as well as the LEGO Group. Tim Brooks, Vice President of Environmental Responsibility at LEGO Group, announced his commitment in a video:

“Businesses need to play a central role in the transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. And we know we can’t do it alone. That’s why the LEGO Group is committed to partnering with lawmakers, consumers, experts and partners to create a positive impact on the planet. “

The pilot program is based on a series of five central climate protection promises. Participating companies must take concrete action in at least three of the five deposit areas, and progress is measured and assessed using publicly available data. The pilot project ends in January 2022, when the initiative is evaluated in consultation with the participating companies.

Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders, who hosted the event, said:

“Giving consumers the opportunity to make environmentally friendly choices – that’s what we set out to do last autumn when we published the new consumer agenda. To make informed decisions, consumers need more transparency about the CO2 footprint and the sustainability of products. That is what the initiative is about. I therefore warmly welcome the five companies to the Green Pledge and welcome them for their commitment to go beyond what is legally required. I look forward to working with many more companies so that we can further increase sustainable consumption in the EU. “

The LEGO Group is committed to acting in three key areas that fall under the Green Consumption Pledge. Continue work to reduce the LEGO Group’s carbon footprint, ensure that LEGO Group’s climate data is easily accessible to the public and promote sustainable practices for the LEGO Group’s external audience.
