Launch of recent ‘Godfather’ Dartford cell espresso enterprise causes stir

A new coffee shop in Dartford is making offers to customers that they may find difficult to refuse.

If you’re on your lunch break and hear the Godfather theme, it’s more of a barista than a mob boss.

Scott Colmer started his new Cafe2U franchise based in Dartford last month, which supplies coffee, tasty treats and beverages.

The more than 15-year-old management consultant started the new company to help companies and local residents get their caffeine fixation under control.

It’s hard to miss him as his red van is fitted with airhorns that herald his arrival with the godfather tune.

“It’s a good conversation piece,” Scott explains, though he admits that not everyone recognizes or appreciates the melody.

Customers contact him via a mobile app and can place an order to collect while observing social distance.

He said, “We offer people the highest quality espresso, hot chocolate, premium teas and snacks in places where they would normally not be able to get them.

“The pandemic came and all of my customers disappeared …”

“Our customers get to know our routes and when we stop by so that they can get at least one good cup of coffee every day.”

The entry into the coffee trade means a career shock for Scott, whose global consulting work has dried up after the outbreak of the pandemic.

“The pandemic came and all of my customers disappeared,” he said.

“I spent a couple of months looking for something … and then I got to the point and did something else.”

But Scott adds that the seed for change had actually been sown once before when he felt motivated to do something to better serve his local community.

He selected the coffee business from a shortlist of five franchise companies and trained as a barista to keep it up to date.

“I have a number of promotions every month …”

So far, the company has received a positive response and has built a customer base with tempting offers.

“Customers can choose from a wide variety of particularly tasty syrup shots for their hot drinks,” he said. “I have a number of promotions every month.”

His latest suggestion is the “Ultimate Hot Chocolate,” which contains servings of whipped cream, marshmallow, and syrup perfect for the cool, outdoor weather.
