Husband and wife business-duo take on Three Peaks for hospital charity

The team that completed the Three Peaks Challenge

IIntrepid married couple Nicky and Mark Jolley raised an additional £ 1,100 for a hospital charity after taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Nicky and Mark, who both run their own businesses in Darlington, HR2day Limited and MN Consultancy, are supporting the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust charities through 2021.

Through their respective companies, they have already donated £ 3,500 to a project to improve childcare across the Trust.

Now the adventurous couple tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks in less than 13 hours, climbing Pen-y-Gent, Whernside and Ingleborough to raise funds for the hospital’s charity.

Nicky, Founder and General Manager of HR2day, said, “It was a tough challenge, but overall one that we enjoyed – and we got some breathtaking views of the Pennines on the 24 mile route.

“We are very excited to support the NHS Foundation Trust charity of County Durham and Darlington, especially after a difficult year fundraising last year.

“We are very grateful to everyone who sponsored us on this challenge to help us meet our £ 1,100 goal. A big thank you to everyone who helped us make this great cause!”

Earlier this year, HR2day and MN Consultancy donated nearly £ 3,500 to the County Durham and Darlington Hospital charity to start a project to help educate children about the care they have received.

The project uses a robot called CAISY to help children and adolescents provide feedback on their treatment and care in a fun and engaging way.

That way, staff can see what’s working and improve care for everyone, including those with special educational needs.
Nicky said, “The CAISY project is so innovative that we were delighted to do whatever we can to help.”

Mark Jolley, Managing Director and Specialized Independent Financial Advisor at MN Consultancy, said, “We are excited to support the County Durham and Darlington Trust charity improve and improve patient care in our area.

“Scaling the Yorkshire Three Peaks was a real challenge – but a very rewarding one that both I and Nicky really enjoyed.”

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Route is 24 miles long and includes 1,585 m uphill.

The peaks are part of the Pennine Mountains and enclose the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
