Helen Cuthbert joins Menzies household enterprise follow

Helen Cuthbert, director, Menzies

Menzies has appointed a new director to help drive the company’s family office vision. Helen Cuthbert comes with more than 20 years of professional service experience – including six years with Big Four companies.

Commenting on her hiring, Cuthbert said, “This is an exciting time to be a retail advisor because the market is so moving. Over the past 18 months, many people have been reviewing their plans for the future and thinking about what they might want to do differently … I look forward to investing time in figuring out what the company’s clients really want and using them to structure their wealth in mind. “

Menzies is a professional services company headquartered in Surrey. Founded in 1912, the company is now one of the UK’s largest regional companies providing accounting and advisory services to private companies. It has eight offices in London and the south of England and specializes in serving clients in the healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate, retail, transportation and technology sectors.

As the new tax director for private clients, Cuthbert will continue to develop the firm’s advisory and family-oriented services. From Leatherhead, she will lead a team of local retail tax advisors and will work closely with the firm’s Center of Excellence for Trusts. The team will concentrate on holistic advice in areas such as inheritance tax planning, capital gains tax planning, cross-generational wealth and succession planning.

Cuthbert added, “Living through the pandemic has highlighted the importance of family ties for some people, and we are seeing an increase in the need for advice in areas such as succession planning and keeping investments like real estate an avenue that benefits the whole family.”

Cuthbert is an experienced tax advisor to private clients and has previously worked for both the Big Four and medium-sized companies. After initially working as an analyst in the Private Client Services division at the end of the 1990s, she joined PwC as a consultant before moving to Tax Manager at Baker Tilly and EY – most recently as Senior Manager. Most recently, she was Associate Director at Mark Davies & Associates.

Craig Hughes, Private Client Partner at Menzies, said on the news, “Having previously worked with Helen, I am very excited to be working again. She is a positive and inspiring leader who builds strong relationships with her clients and colleagues. With Helen by our side, we will expand our offshore and inland tax planning services and pursue our family office vision while continuing to provide strong advisory and compliance support to our clients. “
