Glasgow development initiatives give increase to engineering consultancy

Will Rudd Davidson was involved in a £ 22 million project in St Andrews Drive

This includes providing civil engineering and construction support for a £ 22 million project on St Andrews Drive in Pollokshields, where the team designed the drainage, suDS, roads and permanent and underground utilities.

In an ambitious residential project to build 195 apartments on Minerva Street in the Finnieston area, Will Rudd Davidson’s team provided critical civil engineering appraisals and designs for RIBA Stages 2 and 3.

It also conducted underground tunnel surveys at Kelvinhaugh to assess flood risk and drainage in order to develop a successful strategy for obtaining planning permission.

After the company received the prestigious CARE accreditation in the field of heritage preservation, the company was selected to assist in converting existing buildings on George Street into student dormitories.

The George Street project includes the preservation, restoration and reuse of the listed buildings, blending the character with new construction elements to enable a mix of complementary uses such as hotel, café and gallery. Because of its size and complexity, it is considered to be one of the most significant developments currently under way in Scotland.

Managing Director MJ O’Shaughnessy said: “The first quarter has been incredibly strong for Will Rudd Davidson and reflects the continued success of our team in Glasgow.

“The recent completion of four early-year projects by East Dunbartonshire Council and ongoing work on three major residential projects in the city help our company have a very positive first half of the year.

“The team is also working on a variety of projects across the UK, including several high-rise buildings in London, converting an office building in Manchester for Brewdog and student dormitories in Oxford.

“The projects vary in scope and scope and demonstrate the skills and experience of the Glasgow team, both in new construction and in the conservation and restoration of historic buildings.”

The Glasgow team has also carried out civil and geotechnical work to ensure that proposals for a large, mixed-use housing development in Drumshoreland, West Lothian, can be submitted for approval.
