RSM UK has reaffirmed its plans for long-term growth in the West Midlands by hiring a record number of apprentices.

The accounting, tax and advisory firm hired 42 new employees in Birmingham, including 28 college graduates and 10 school leavers, a 68% increase over the total number of apprentices last year.

Mark Taylor, regional managing partner of RSM West Midlands, said: “The labor market is extremely competitive for young people and this has only been exacerbated by the pandemic. I am delighted that we are able to offer so many bright, intelligent and hardworking people here in Birmingham and around the country a first step on the career ladder during this extraordinarily challenging time.

“While the last year and a half have been difficult for everyone, we have continued to invest and our business has grown through the pandemic. We offer equal opportunities to start and develop a career at RSM. We’ve expanded our graduates and especially our high school leavers to expand our talent pool, including working with the social mobility charity Leadership Through Sport & Business to recruit talented, ambitious young people at the beginning of their careers. Helping you to become our future leaders is an important part of our long-term strategy. “
