The finalists for the aspiring Multicultural Business & Community Champion (MBCC) have now been announced after a record number of public votes.

Thousands across the country selected their winners, resulting in a final shortlist that sheds a well-deserved light on the nation’s unsung heroes. Additionally, the 2021 list includes three new categories of finalists who champion the work and accomplishments of front-line workers and lockdown heroes of a year like no other.

After hundreds of applications for the categories were received, the public chose their finalists; These include the 14 champions to be crowned at a high profile event in November to celebrate those who have gone above and beyond in the corporate world and local communities.

This year’s awards have categories specifically dedicated to those who went out of their way to support others during the pandemic.

Both “Frontline Worker of the Year” and “Lockdown Hero” are dedicated exclusively to the people who selflessly risked their lives to support others during the pandemic. while the “Social Activist of the Year” award is given to a person who is passionate about social change and who uses his or her voice to fight for equality.

Tru Powell, himself a multi-award winning entrepreneur, heads the MBCC Awards and is blown away by the number of votes cast this year.

He said, “I am so happy to be bringing back the MBCC awards and I cannot think of a more appropriate time to spread something positive. It’s been a tough year for everyone as the coronavirus has confronted many with professional and personal hurdles.

“The three new categories that we have added to this year’s awards are particularly important to us as they allow us to express our heartfelt thanks to the people who have helped us survive the pandemic. One of MBCC’s missions has always been to focus on the people who are making a real difference in their communities; So I hope that introducing these categories will help us celebrate these inspiring personalities. “

In the next phase, the MBCC Awards expert jury will select the winners for each category from entrepreneurs, activists and well-known names.

In addition to well-known contributors such as presenter Adil Ray OBE, comedian David “Sideman” Whitley and singer / songwriter Jamelia on the panel discussion, they will also be joined by Dal Darroch, Head of Diversity of the Football Association, and Henrietta., Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Birmingham, accompanies Brealey and ITV presenter Sameena Ali-Khan, to name a few. The panel will also be accompanied by award-winning entrepreneurs Jodie Cook, Justice Williams MBE and Cordell Jeffers.

“With so many great finalists, the jury will definitely have to make a tough decision this year! I’m really excited to see who they choose to be their winners and celebrate with them at the MBCC Awards in November, ”added Tru.
