Edinburgh danger administration consultancy lands ‘important’ Norwegian nuclear contract

A consortium led by an Edinburgh-based risk management consultancy has signed a “major” contract with the Norwegian Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority.

“/>Abbott Risk Consulting (Arc) said the consortium was selected by the Norwegian regulator DSA to support its nuclear safety activities for up to four years.
The contract was awarded under framework agreements that could be valued at up to £ 4 million over the next four years.

Arc said the appointment is further international recognition of its reputation as “a leading independent provider of security incident and risk assessment services.”
The consortium was awarded the contract by the Norwegian Nuclear Safety Authority in the face of “tough international competition”, he added.
Jon Baggs, Head of the Company’s Nuclear Business Unit, said, “This is an important date for us as the caliber and experience of the consultants who will provide our services – across all six partners – have been clearly recognized. It shows that small and medium-sized companies can compete against the large international consortia in open competition. “
In July Abbott Risk Consulting was selected to provide security security expertise for the landmark HyFlyer project, which has already launched a major demonstration flight from Orkney.
The project, which is partially funded by Innovate UK, aims to decarbonise small, medium-range passenger aircraft by replacing conventional turboprop engines with electric motors, hydrogen fuel cells and gas storage – making the world’s first zero-emission, commercially viable flight to reach.
Arc provides the security of the technology demonstration phase, in which standards and best practices develop in parallel with the technology.
