The California-based nonprofit distributes thousands of laptops and sets up high-speed Internet access for local students so they can virtually keep up with their studies.
"We've received requests from dozens of school districts for over 13,000 laptops in the past month, and our team is adapting to meet that need as quickly as possible," said Allie Bussjaeger, director of impact and sustainability at human-I-T. "We have been able to deliver over 4,000 devices to low-income families over the past month, and we don't plan to stop soon."
Long-Beach, California-based Human-I-T is committed to bridging the digital divide by providing individuals with the tools necessary for success in today's online age. By sharing technology resources such as computers, low-cost Internet connectivity, and digital literacy training, Human-I-T provides individuals with access to education, telemedicine, employment opportunities, and more. "There has never been a moment when digital inclusion like this has come into the spotlight," said James Jack, chief innovation officer and co-founder of the nonprofit. "It makes it very clear, especially when you say that students can continue their education."
