Shipping travel business launches sustainability consultancy to support clients in reaching emissions reduction targets

Specialized travel management company ATPI Marine & Energy is adding a new division, ATPI Halo, to help the shipping industry decarbonise and meet its sustainability goals. To celebrate the launch, the company has announced that it is working towards carbon neutral status, with a clear path to achieve that goal for 2021 and beyond.

Opening today on World Maritime Day (September 30, 2021), ATPI Halo will act as an incubator for new ideas and services focused on improving sustainability standards and designed specifically to support marine and energy organizations.

Ian Sinderson, CEO of the ATPI Group, said:

“Research at shipping companies has shown that crew travel can account for up to one sixth of a company’s total greenhouse gas emissions. However, many decarbonization plans do not include steps to choose greener travel options or reduce crew travel altogether. Our mission is to ensure that approaches to reducing environmental impact are holistic and that crew trips are incorporated into planning and CO2 emissions reporting. “

For maritime companies, the specialized sustainability consultancy from ATPI Halo looks at all elements of crew trips, from the proactive planning of shorter and / or faster routes served by more environmentally friendly aircraft to precise emissions reporting after the trip as well as CO2 offsetting.

ATPI Halo helps customers in the shipping and energy industries reduce their environmental impact in all areas of their business – including crew travel and crew changes. The new services offered include a tailor-made and accredited CO2 offsetting program that ensures that the programs are relevant to a customer’s core business. The ATPI Halo sustainability team has sourced over fifteen prestigious carbon credits projects in the core markets where shipping companies operate and which also have direct benefits to communities.
