University of Kelaniya signs MOU with Ogilvy Digital for new Digital Marketing Degree | Print Edition

The University of Kelaniya recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ogilvy Digital, the country’s leading digital technology agency, to share their industry expertise and knowledge for the university’s specialized degree in Digital Marketing.

The Digital Marketing course is the first of its kind to be introduced by a state university.

With this letter of intent, Ogilvy Digital will work with the Department of Marketing Management of the university’s Faculty of Commerce and Management to provide in-depth digital education to students on this program, Ogilvy said in a media release.

The MoU for the new course was signed between Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Irvin Weerackody, Chairman of the Phoenix Ogilvy Group.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilanthi de Silva emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “We cannot wait alone in the ivory towers of science. We need to reach the areas our graduates will work in and ensure they have the knowledge and skills to make a significant contribution and be productive in the sectors in which they operate. I admire the drive and enthusiasm in the Marketing Management department to make things better and I hope that this partnership will bear fruit in the future. “

The dean of the University’s Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Dr. Narada Fernando, and the head of the Marketing Management Institute, Prof. Ravi Dissanayake, attended.

The MOU stipulates that Ogilvy will develop the curriculum for the degree together with the university and advise the content and assessment methods of the program and be a member of the accreditation committee of the Certified Professional Marketing Graduate Program (CPMG).

In addition, the company will offer guest lectures for the degree program, internship opportunities for students in the program, and conduct knowledge sharing with the university.
