China consortium bags Mindanao rail consultancy

The transportation department announced on Monday that a Chinese consortium consisting of China Railway Design Corp. and Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.

The contract was awarded on August 5, the BusinessWorld department said when asked for an update on the China-funded project.

“After the contract has been awarded, the contract is signed and credit negotiations are carried out,” it continues.

On its website, the department said it required “completion of all detailed planning and operating work” of the first phase of the railroad project “in about 19 months and the (project management advisory services) required in about 33 months”. in order to take into account the preliminary construction work and the notice period. “

Three Chinese consultants were shortlisted to submit bids for the project management consultancy service contract: the China Railway Design Corp. consortium. and Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Co., Ltd., the China Railway Liuyuan Group Co., Ltd. and CCCC Railway Consultants Group Co., Ltd.

The department also said Monday that it is still waiting to be shortlisted from China for the design-and-build package.

The first phase of the £ 82.9 billion railroad, which covers the 100.2 kilometer Tagum-Davao-Digos section, is funded by an official development aid package from the Chinese government.

The first phase extends from Tagum train station and the depot in Davao del Norte to Digos City in Davao del Sur. It will have stations in Carmen, Panabo, Santa Cruz, and three in Davao City, including a sub-depot.

The department said the segment slated for partial operation by March 2022 is the segment between Tagum and Carmen.

The government aims to be fully operational by June 2023.
