In order to reward employees for coping with the storm of the coronavirus economy, the change consultancy Curium Solutions has announced that it will switch to a new model of employee participation. In the future, the company will be majority owned by its new employee-owned trust.

Employee-owned or large and significant employee ownership companies contribute £ 30 billion to UK national GDP. Employee ownership is the fastest growing form of business ownership in the UK. Companies from different industries are working to join famous examples like John Lewis in action or, more recently, UK home entertainment retailer Richer Sounds. In recent years a number of consulting firms have taken steps to adopt the structure as well.

The most recent of these is Birmingham-based change consultancy Curium Solutions, which has announced plans to become a majority-owned company. Founded in 2008 by co-founders Adam Farrow, James Farrow and Andy Dawson, Curium has now established an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT) that will hold a majority stake in the company.

Adam Farrow commented, “We are pleased to announce that we are establishing an employee trust that will hold a controlling interest in the company. Our team has always been central to the success of Curium. After such a successful year in such a challenging market environment, we decided that now is the right time to switch to this new model and recognized the immense contribution that each employee makes to our success. Apart from the establishment of the trust relationship, nothing else will change. The team and the board of directors remain the same, supported by our ambition to grow in the coming years, develop new services and support many more customers. “

According to a communication from the company, the move is in line with the corporate culture. James Farrow stated that the interests of the company’s team, co-founders and customers continue to be “perfectly aligned” and that we have always believed that taking care of your team is the best way to ensure you get the best results achieve for your customers. “

The existing board and the Curium team will remain in place. This includes chairwoman Tracy Westall, who also agreed that the corporate culture is perfect for the new model. She added, “My first impression of Curium was that its culture is a superpower with a just reason to empower potential for customers. The decision to become an EOT is therefore an obvious evolution of the story.”

Curium was advised by experts from RSM on its move to an EOT. Mark Taylor, Regional Managing Partner of Central England at RSM, commented: “We are very pleased to have supported the Curium management team on this project. Our team of specialists sees an increasing amount of work on EOT projects as more and more companies are attracted to this ownership model. It was great to create a structure to support the growth plan of such an exciting local company. “
