Asics Ventures invests in the Israeli startup Seevix Material Sciences made of synthetic spider silk

Asics Corporation, A sporting goods manufacturer has announced that its investment subsidiary, Asics Ventures Concernhas invested in Seevix material Sciences GmbH. ("Seevix"), founded in 2014 after more than a decade of academic research at the Hebrew University.

Seevix produces patented SVX artificial spider silk, which has the exceptional strength and elasticity of natural spider silk. SVX spider silk is durable, but sustainable and biodegradable.

Seevix manufactures SVX through biomimicry in a controlled fermenter-based process. SVX is a bio-protein functional silk with sustainability properties that have the natural properties of the fiber to produce thinner, lighter, and tougher products on a commercial scale.

Seevix and the Asics Institute for Sports Science will jointly develop sporting goods made from SVX spider silk.

One of the core strategies of the brand's medium-term management plan ("Asics Growth Plan (AGP) 2020") is to create differentiated innovations. The company has continued to incorporate advanced technologies into our products to improve both sustainability and functionality, and has switched to sustainable materials, including those derived from biotechnology, through collaboration with external partners.
