Accenture buys monetary providers administration consultancy Exton

Accenture acquires Exton, a financial services management consultancy

Accenture has acquired Exton Consulting, a French management consultancy specializing in the financial services industry.

The move adds a team of around 150 consultants to Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting business unit and the Financial Services industry group. According to Olivier Girard, Market Unit Lead at Accenture France & Benelux, the acquisition of the company is part of “our overall growth strategy to develop key capabilities and capabilities in strategic, high-growth market areas”.

In the face of arguably the biggest financial services upheaval in history, Accenture was on the hunt (the company is notorious for its buy-and-build strategy) to strengthen its advisory capabilities in this space. Exton Consulting was founded in 2006 and has grown into a leading player in this segment, with a focus on projects in four markets: France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Exton Consulting’s offices in Paris, Milan, Munich and Barcelona will be integrated into Accenture and all employees will be taken over.

“The financial services industry is facing an unprecedented transformation driven by economic and geopolitical uncertainties, regulatory challenges, digital transformation, the urgency to reinvent the customer experience and the need to rethink operating models. This acquisition strengthens Accenture’s position as the leading management consultancy in the industry, ”said Girard.

Cedric Vatier, Strategy & Consulting Lead at Accenture France & Benelux, added that Exton Consulting will enhance Accenture’s expertise in strategy, design and operations and complement its offering.

In the meantime, Exton Consulting will enable the company to develop a global powerhouse with more than 530,000 employees and an extensive customer network in the financial services industry. Joining forces will also enable Exton Consulting to expand its offerings to include technology functions such as artificial intelligence, data and the cloud.

Philippe Derambure, co-founder of Exton Consulting, said: “We are very excited about the opportunity to join Accenture. Driven by the digitization of the economy, various areas of management consulting are now coming together. The combination of innovation, technology and data competence with our expertise will help us to offer an even broader customer base highly differentiated end-to-end services. ”

For Accenture, the deal is the third in France this year, following the acquisitions of Nell’Armonia (a specialist in enterprise performance management) and Linkbynet (a cloud specialist).

From a strategy and consulting perspective, Exton Consulting is the fifth high-profile deal in 2021 after the takeover of Homburg & Partner – a 70-strong sales and marketing consultancy based in Germany, Cirrus in Great Britain (Leadership Services), GRA in Australia (supply chain) and Future State in the USA (change management).
