The British Business Bank has Dr. Sophie Dale-Black has been appointed director to lead the bank’s UK networking team in Northern England and the Midlands.

As the bank is headquartered in Sheffield, the move will complement the bank’s existing on-site presence in the regions.

Dale-Black’s role will include the Northwest, Northeast, and Yorkshire and the Humber.

Dale-Black is a PhD scientist by training. His previous positions include positions at Newcastle University, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Innovate UK, where he supports the growth of innovative companies.

It will focus on improving the small business financial ecosystem in the north to give smaller businesses access to the funding they need to recover, grow and thrive.

The UK Network team’s role is also to gain a deeper understanding of regional financial markets for small businesses, shape the bank’s support for smaller businesses, and educate government policy.

Dale-Black said: “I have worked closely with the British Business Bank for a number of years and recognize the critical role it is playing in transforming financial markets for smaller businesses across the UK, and particularly in the north of England.

Michelle Hirst has been named CMC’s Quality Advisor, bringing over 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience to the role.

Coming from Thornton and Ross, also in Huddersfield, Hirst will be responsible for maintaining quality documentation on behalf of customers in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors and for supporting their regulatory activities.

Keighley-based PFF Group expands with the appointment of Samantha Lee as Health and Safety Officer and Abbie-Leigh Alderson as Junior Data Analyst.
